WILDLIFE CARERS GROUP NEWS; GALAH; AVOID BIOLAC; SNAKES; MOLONGLO; NEW TAMS MINISTER + more 17/3/13

While we haven’t been sending out our news and hard work regularly via email, we have been extremely busy. Click on Facebook, http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1649024860&v=info
and Twitter
http://twitter.com/wildlifecarersg/
to read some of our updates.  Unfortunately not all of our hard work gets published on Facebook and Twitter either with the huge volume of work that we do.

Wildlife Carers Group phone has been ringing off the hook as usual with possibly some calls being lost.  If we haven’t returned your call you either forgot to leave your number, left the wrong number, we couldn’t decipher your message, or through congestion your call somehow got lost.

Please speak clearly and loudly into the microphone on your phone, tell us the reason why you are calling, leave your name and contact number, repeat your contact number twice.  We don’t have time to return calls to callers who fail to give us the reason for their call.  The call must be wildlife and animal welfare related.

AVOID BIOLAC FOR REARING MACROPODS, POSSUMS – SOFT FURRED WILDLIFE.

Photos: NORA PRESTON

Biolac has inappropriately been widely recommended to rear Macropods.

Unfortunately carers have found that the Eastern Grey Kangaroo Joeys have developed cataracts in both their eyes using Biolac.

Taronga Zoo has also found that Biolac is not suitable to rear Macropods or any other soft furred wildlife and recommend that Biolac only be used for Wombats or the stronger furred wildlife with similar texture fur as the wombat.  Personally, I would avoid using Biolac altogether.

I would therefore highly recommend that you avoid the use of Biolac for possums as well.

I have successfully continued to rear wildlife using Di-Vetelact that is simple to use. The only Wombaroo products I use is Granivore and Insectivore mix for birds. Carers that use Wombaroo powder for Macropods, Possums etc have been successful in rearing them.

Eastern Grey Kangaroo Joey reared using Biolac has formed cataracts in his eyes. This Joey will be having eye surgery to remove the cataracts.

Eyes should appear clear as this picture shows.

SNAKES 22/1/13

Photos: NORA PRESTON

After moving some stumps around into aviaries, the next day on 22/1/13 I saw an olivish green object in the bottom of the aviary with the same pattern on it as my garden hose. I thought that the last person in the aviary had dropped a thicker garden hose piece into the aviary and was about to bend down to retrieve it and return it to its rightful owner when it moved.

Even the local snakes seek refuge in my aviearies and want to feel safe from harm to live in my aviaries, slithering in and curling up in it to make a home for themselves.

EDENOPTERON KEITHCROOKI – 360 MILLION YEAR OLD NEW SPECIES OF FISH DISCOVERED

Photo: NORA PRESTON

Dr Gavin Young of ANU and 3 other researchers found the remains of this species in Eden in 2008. I snapped this photo of Gavin holding this specimen in June 2012. They worked hard to put the pieces together over a period of 5 years. In 2008 they found a fang that was 4 centimetres in length from an estimated 3 metre long fish while searching for remains of a toothless armoured fish in rocks near Eden. The researchers are waiting to hear back on whether or not they have been successful in their application for a permit/funding to continue their excavation in Eden to find the rest of the remains of this fish.  I’m sure that all the readers would agree that granting this permit would be of great historical educational value for science and the public.

“POSSUM TOASTS AUSTRALIA DAY in cheeky visit” by John Thistleton CANBERRA TIMES (CT) ARTICLE 29/1/13 NEWS P.3

Photos: NORA PRESTON

While I encourage assisting our native wildlife by feeding them, I only encourage to feed them with their natural diet, except for feeding lizards, possums etc to snakes and raptors etc, and as a supplement, fruit, good quality parrot mix etc.

Bread, toasted or otherwise, is definitely not recommended to be fed to any wildlife. Wildlife, and any other animals and birds cannot digest bread that will give them diarrhoea and slowly kill them.

I will investigate what the pest controllers who TAMS employ to catch the possums and remove them from the roof do with them, as commented by Daniel Iglesias in this same CT article.

The possums cannot just be removed from the roof and released. Possums are highly territorial and will kill or seriously injure one another fighting for their territory. A possum box must be installed close by to give the possum a new home. You can read about the Powerful Owl and view a photo of it at the Botanical Gardens on 22/9/07, referred to in the same CT article on Wildlife Carers Group website: http://wcg.awardspace.com, and click on the ‘Training’ link. ELEPHANTS – DID YOU KNOW?

We have been busy assisting in saving Elephants as well, both in the wild and in captivity.

  1. Usually in mammals tusks are enlarged canine teeth, but in elephants they are actually elongated incisors made of ivory and are essentially no different from other teeth. Ref: eleaid.com and Britannica.com
  2. Elephants usually have 26 teeth: the incisors, known as the tusks, 12 deciduous premolars, and 12 molars.
  3. These animals have several distinctive features, including a long proboscis or trunk used for many purposes, particularly for grasping objects. Their incisors grow into tusks, which serve as tools for moving objects and digging, and as weapons for fighting.

Elephants are large mammals of the family Elephantidae and the order Proboscidea. Traditionally, two species are recognised, the African elephant (Loxodonta africana) and the Asian elephant (Elephas maximus), although some evidence suggests that African bush elephants and African forest elephants are separate species (L. africana and L. cyclotis respectively). Elephants are scattered throughout sub-Saharan Africa, and South and Southeast Asia. They are the only surviving proboscideans; extinct species include mammoths and mastodons. The largest living terrestrial animals, male African elephants can reach a height of 4 m (13 ft) and weigh 7,000 kg (15,000 lb).

Elephants are herbivorous and can be found in different habitats including savannahs, forests, deserts and marshes. They prefer to stay near water. They are considered to be keystone species due to their impact on their environments. Other animals tend to keep their distance, and predators such as lions, tigers, hyenas and wild dogs usually target only the young elephants (or “calves”). Females (or “cows”) tend to live in family groups, which can consist of one female with her calves or several related females with offspring. The latter are led by the oldest cow, known as the matriarch. Elephants have a fission-fusion society in which multiple family groups come together to socialise. Males (or “bulls”) leave their family groups when they reach puberty, and may live alone or with other males. Adult bulls mostly interact with family groups when looking for a mate and enter a state of increased testosterone and aggression known as musth, which helps them gain dominance and reproductive success. Calves are the centre of attention in their family groups and rely on their mothers for as long as three years. Elephants can live up to 70 years in the wild. They communicate by touch, sight, and sound; elephants use infrasound, and seismic communication over long distances. Elephant intelligence has been compared with that of primates and cetaceans. They appear to have self-awareness and show empathy for dying or dead individuals of their kind.

African elephants are listed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), while the Asian elephant is classed as endangered. One of the biggest threats to elephant populations is the ivory trade, as the animals are poached for their ivory tusks. Other threats to wild elephants include habitat destruction and conflicts with local people. Elephants are used as working animals in Asia. In the past they were used in war; today, they are often put on display in zoos and circuses. Elephants are highly recognisable and have been featured in art, folklore, religion, literature and popular culture. Ref: Wikipedia

MOLONGLO RIVER PARK/COOMBS RIVERSIDE DESIGN final PSP PRESENTATION 20/2/13

    Photos: NORA PRESTON

I attended the Molonglo River Park/Coombs Riverside design workshop on 20/2/13 reminding everyone that they were in breach of the EPBC Act 1999/NES plan.  Please click on this link to view WCG Submission on the EPBC Act 1999/NES Plan:  https://wildlifecarersgroup.wordpress.com/2012/09/26/wildlife-carers-group-submission-for-molonglo-and-north-weston-developments/.  I spoke with Shane Rattenbury TAMS minister later that day at a separate Conservation Council meeting reminding him of the Wildlife Carers Group submission on this matter that was handed to him at a Council meeting prior to the elections in 2012, and requested a response and confirmation that these developments have been scrapped. I further sent a follow up email on 25/2/13 to Shane Rattenbury requesting his response and confirmation that the Molonglo and North Weston developments have been permanently stopped. I have not yet received an acknowledgement or response to the email.

CONSERVATION COUNCIL COMMUNITY FORUM, GUEST SPEAKER SHANE RATTENBURY NEW ACT MINISTER FOR TERRITORY AND MUNICIPAL SERVICES (TAMS) 20/2/13

I attended the Conservation Council community forum on 20/2/13 and spoke with Shane Rattenbury on the matter of the Cypress trees being removed in the old Weston CIT site without any consultation and requested an explanation. I further sent a follow up email on 25/2/13 requesting an explanation to which I have not received an acknowledgement or response to.

I also raised the unlawful entry and theft of my wildlife on 10/8/12 https://wildlifecarersgroup.wordpress.com/2012/09/28/wildlife-carers-group-news-work-experience-student-rspca-cruelty-more-live-export-animal-cruelty-28912/ and again demanded a public apology and the return of my wildlife alive and asked him where they were. I also reminded him of the small part of the damages bill that I have already sent and asked for that immediate payment and that I was defamed publicly with vicious lies not once but twice by TAMS, also in 2007/2008 in the attempt to destroy my reputation, and expect compensation for damages, defamation, vicious harassment, unlawful entry and theft. I have been demanding that all staff involved in the unlawful entry and theft of my wildlife be permanently banned and terminated from their jobs for abusing their jobs and taxpayers money to run a smear campaign against me. I sent a follow up email on 25/2/13 requesting the same to which I have not received an acknowledgement or response to.

I discussed the Kangaroos and to end the violent unlawful killing, to amend the Acts and Policies that govern the unlawful violent killing according to Wildlife Carers Group submissions, and to amend our licence, etc. I sent a follow up email on 25/2/13 requesting the same to which I have not received an acknowledgement or response to.

I have been busy taking legal action, typing up submissions, including for judicial improvements, strengthening the Human Rights Act that expired in January 2013, attending meetings, and emailing letters to assist in ending violent kangaroo killings in other states, to prevent the kangaroo commercial industry from starting up in other states, saving our marinelife and their habitat, to assist to stop the coal seam gas, which we have had some success in, with the Environment Minister Tony Burke introducing legislation in parliament on 13/3/13, including strict federal conditions on the coal seam gas proposals on their impact on our water tables. The list goes on of all of the rest of my hard work on other matters as well, some of which that may be seen on Facebook and Twitter.

In this article, interviewed on 15/4/10, http://www.nowuc.com.au/2010/05/27/kangaroo-plan%E2%80%A6/comment-page-1/(this page may now be closed to leave space for UC new students interviews)
don fletcher from tams says that kangaroos are not the main problem and in fact ‘native grasses’ are not threatened with extinction, but other animals and plants are, and that “the biggest ‘contributor’ to the loss of the natural treeless grasslands of our region has been agriculture (by far)”.

This statement is admitting to the flawed, dishonest kangaroo management plan, and russell watkinson’s media release, on Friday 18/6/10, that blames the kangaroos for driving legless lizards, earless dragons, etc, and the deteriorating grasslands and woodlands to extinction, by eating all the grasses, when fletcher admits that the native grasses are not threatened by the kangaroos, but by human activity, including toxic sprays.

Please check out this link: http://www.canberratimes.com.au/news/local/news/general/roo-best-custodian-for-some-plants/1652005.aspx
that was in the Canberra times on 17/10/09, that completely refutes the allegations against the roos destroying grasslands, that was sent to maxine cooper, that were also ignored.

The report is by Julie Lindner, who has also been studying the grasslands and the roos for the past 20 years, which backs up what I’ve been saying all along.

http://www.canberratimes.com.au/news/local/news/general/roo-best-custodian-for-some-plants/1652005.aspx , with a more recent article in the Chronicle in the’letters to the editor’ section titled ‘culling controversy’ p.23, 14/6/11.

‘KANGAROO CHILLER BOX INVESTIGATION’/’KANGAROOS ON TRACK TO EXTINCTION’,that contains the cruel bashing to death of roos that are shot, but not directly killed, hung up while still alive, and left suffering, trembling as they hang, tortured to death, and joeys bashed to death, possibly attempting to decapitate the joeys head on the back of the truck with several blows.

Please click on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbn3c8EcNRk&feature=related

SEE the so called controlled government butchering, you will note that the kangaroos are still alive when hung up, suffering, AND BEING TORTURED TO DEATH, the male is laughing at the cruelty he has just inflicted on this kangaroo, a joey stomped to death, even the child stomps on it as he walks past following his father, orphaned joeys hopping around, left to starve to death, a joey bashed till its eyes popped out, but is still alive, suffering, a prolonged death, and the male admitting that these are protected species. Native protected animals called pests, the very same native animals that maintain a healthy well balanced eco system. The code of practice that the shooter refers to is inhumane, and unacceptable, as witnessed in this video footage. Kangaroos are not fit for human or dog consumption, heavily contaminated with various diseases/harmful bacterias, e.coli, salmonella, staphylococcus, streptococcus, toxoplasmosis, preserved illegally with sulphur dioxide that causes thiamine deficiency, (a white crystalline solid forming part of the vitamin B complex, C12H17CIN4OS; a vitamin (B1), required by the nervous system, absence of which causes beri-beri and other disorders),causing death, intake of pesticide spraying to control locusts, etc. Keep watching till it stops, keep an eye on the timer, next to the speaker symbol, length 10:59.

There are more links on youtube to show the facts on the extreme cruelty committed to our native protected macropods.

Changing the Qld government legislation and constitution, to humanely conserve this species, and their habitat. Erecting GIVE WAY to DINGOES/WILDLIFE Signs. We can see their marine life up and down the Qld coast, however, the only unique sighting that Fraser Island can boast about, and can offer to the tourists, is the pure breed native Dingoes, once the last 90 odd Dingoes, population estimation as of 28-29 August 2011, (since the mismanaged Fraser Island fire by the Qld government, this Dingo population has more than likely dropped dramatically), that are left on the Island are driven to extinction, through arrogance, mismanagement and mistreatment, Fraser Island will have nothing left to offer to the huge tourist trade it currently holds, which will end Fraser Island tourism. This species maintains a healthy well balanced ecosystem.

Wildlife Carers Group reported on an animal cruelty case committed to a Sulphur-crested Cockatoo in Queanbeyan NSW, on 16/3/12, in our 19/3/12 news edition, https://wildlifecarersgroup.wordpress.com/2012/03/19/wildlife-carers-group-reports-on-animal-cruelty-calling-for-witnesses-brush-tail-possum-in-phillip-sulphur-crested-cockatoo-in-kambah-and-water-dragon-care-19312/ and updated in our 26/3/12 news edition, https://wildlifecarersgroup.wordpress.com/2012/03/25/update-on-sulphur-crested-cockatoo-nsw-animal-crueltycorrespondence-with-campbell-newman-bats-dingoes-dugongs-sea-turtles-kangaroos-qld-26312/ that was witnessed by me with the bird also being saved by me.

A Detective Senior Constable from Queanbeyan interviewed the offender this morning, 13/4/12, that has consequently led to the offender being prosecuted for causing harm to a native protected animal.

This should be two separate heavy fines under the Animal Welfare Act and the Nature Conservation Act.

His fine will lead to 200 points, $100-$2,500 fine and possibly including 6 months imprisonment that will be left up to the court to decide his fine, and sentencing.

The offender admitted to his crimes against the Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, repeating what I had reported.

The 2nd Vet’s report was also handed over to the Detective Senior Constable.

The cockatoo has had x-rays/radiographs performed by a 2nd vet, with further examination, treatment with antibiotics, and wounds treated.

There was evidence of contusion on the left side of the neck and swelling on the left wing over the radius and ulna, just distal to the elbow. The swelling was approximately 1cm in diameter, raised about 2mm, penetrated deeply to the level of bone and contained an eschar (scab) on the surface. The eschar was surgically removed under general anaesthetic to disclose a circular wound with consequential bleeding.

The Cockatoo is in full term rehabilitation at Wildlife Carers Group expense.

The offender has offered to pay the Vet bills.

WILDLIFE CARERS GROUP VISIT TO FEATHERDALE WILDLIFE PARK NSW 8/4/12

All photos taken by NORA PRESTON.

If you want to interact with wildlife, this certainly is the wildlife park to go to.

As soon as we got off the tour bus, we were welcomed by a staff member holding a joey in the carpark, standing in front of our tour bus.

Agile Wallaby Joey

The Park was mostly clean where the wildlife were kept, except for where the farm animals were held, that was a bit smelly.

Swamp Wallaby

Open enclosures were set up, where the animals could come out from and go back into at their leisure. When they wanted to escape from the tourists, they had their space that they could go into, that the tourists were not allowed to step into, although it is easy to step over the low built open enclosures, however, definitely not advisable.  Even animals need their time out and space from you.

Kookaburras and Tawny Frogmouths just sat around in the open, perched on the chairs or low to the ground.

Laughing Kookaburra to your right, Frogmouth perched lower to the ground to your left.

We got up close and personal to a sleeping Koala, and patted the poor thing disturbing the Koala’s sleep.

Then I just slightly woke the Koala up, eyes still closed but head lifted for a better photo, strike a pose.

More Agile Wallabies.

A sleeping Hairy nosed Wombat.

A Dingo that is pregnant. The pups will be out and about in June and you can interact with the pups.

Albino Wallaroo with an expression on the face saying leave me alone I just want to eat.

Endangered Major Mitchell Cockatoo

Rock Wallaby

Unfortunately we couldn’t interact with the Quolls.

They had labelled 2 Spotted-tailed Quolls, (Dasyurus maculatus) 1 per pen.

This Spotted-tailed Quoll http://www.parks.tas.gov.au/index.aspx?base=4807 decided to walk up to me as I attempted to take the photo.

I successfully took two photos of the Quoll’s spotted tail each time I attempted to take a photo so I moved onto the next enclosure.

The Quolls were labelled as Tiger Cats that you will also find in mammal books.  The last time I looked at Tigers they had stripes and not spots, so whoever named these Quolls as Tiger Cats should rethink his inappropriate description of the Quolls and withdraw the name ‘Tiger’.

The Eastern Quoll Dasyurus Viverrinus, http://voices.yahoo.com/the-eastern-quoll-facts-information-3737010.html,  http://www.parks.tas.gov.au/index.aspx?base=4807, (click on the Eastern Quoll link, within this link)  has apparently disappeared from the mainland, where their habitat used to be in Sydney, Braidwood and surrounding areas that apparently now only survives in Tasmania, however, at the rate that Tasmania is destroying their native habitat, poisoning, trapping, shooting, etc. they will ALSO soon disappear altogether in Tasmania just like the Tasmanian Tiger did.

Comparing the 2 photos taken at Featherdale Wildlife Park of the Quolls, the photo of the 1st Quoll that is only showing its tail is definitely a Spotted-tailed Quoll, http://www.parks.tas.gov.au/index.aspx?base=4807  however, the 2nd  and 3rd photo of the 2nd Quoll, shows that the Quoll’s spots stop at the top of the tail, with no white spots along the rest of the tail or on the tip of the tail, which could identify the last 2  photos as the endangered Eastern Quoll, that is extinct on the mainland, rather than the Spotted-tailed Quoll.

Our Quolls, along with the rest of our native wildlife will be driven to extinction with poisoning, shooting, trapping, loss of habitat etc, unless the government immediately puts an end to all of the above.

Publishers, zoos, wildlife parks and the government need to be extremely careful on how they label our native wildlife, inappropriately labelling  our native wildlife as common, when they are not, leads to driving our native wildlife to extinction.

‘Common’ needs to be removed from all native wildlife, with all our native wildlife placed on the endangered list, to prevent driving our native wildlife to extinction.

2012 Voiceless ANIMAL LAW LECTURE SERIES

Voiceless are inviting you to the 2012 Voiceless Animal Law Lecture Series: a legal exploration of commercial hunting in Australia and Canada..

Australia’s iconic kangaroos are hunted in the largest commercial slaughter of land-based wildlife on the planet – almost 90 million have been lawfully killed in the last 20 years.

Canada’s harp seals are hunted in the world’s largest commercial slaughter of marine mammals – almost 4 million have been lawfully killed in the last 20 years.

With two countries holding such similar records, it is worthwhile exploring the legal parameters of the hunts. In order to do this, Voiceless is proud to present Canadian lawyer Lesli Bisgould as our keynote speaker for 2012.

Lesli is a leader in animal law, having practised in the area for ten years, authored the first Canadian text on the subject and lectured widely throughout Canada and the US. In what is sure to be a fascinating presentation, Lesli will reflect on her experiences with the seal hunt and offer insights into Australia’s own native hunt. She will be joined by Australian leaders in animal law and environmental law, who will give a local perspective on the kangaroo industry and the laws that enable it.

Touring 12 venues throughout Australia, the lectures are open to the public and free to attend.

Please join us for an insightful presentation: find your local venue and register now.

Best regards,

Brian & Ondine Sherman

Kangaroos, by signing this petition, and circulating this for us http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/saveallthe-kangaroos.html .

In this article, interviewed on 15/4/10, http://www.nowuc.com.au/2010/05/27/kangaroo-plan…/comment-page-1/

don fletcher from tams says that kangaroos are not the main problem and in fact ‘native grasses’ are not threatened with extinction, but other animals and plants are, and that “the biggest ‘contributor’ to the loss of the natural treeless grasslands of our region has been agriculture (by far)”.

Kangaroos are not fit for human or dog consumption, heavily contaminated with various diseases/harmful bacterias, e.coli, salmonella, staphylococcus, streptococcus, toxoplasmosis, preserved illegally with sulphur dioxide that causes thiamine deficiency, (a white crystalline solid forming part of the vitamin B complex, C12H17CIN4OS; a vitamin (B1), required by the nervous system, absence of which causes beri-beri and other disorders), causing death, intake of pesticide spraying to control locusts, etc. Keep watching till it stops, keep an eye on the timer, next to the speaker symbol, length 10:59.

There are more links on youtube to show the facts on the extreme cruelty committed to our native protected macropods.

CORRESPONDENCE WITH CAMPBELL NEWMAN – BATS, DINGOES, DUGONGS, SEA TURTLES, KANGAROOS QLD 26/3/12

On 9 March 2012 I reported on the inhumane slaughters of Queensland’s protected endangered Green sea Turtles and Dugongs, Bats to be inhumanely shot and electrocuted by Qld LNP and sand mining on Stradbroke Island.

Good morning,

Thank you for your response on 12 March 2012 concerning Flying Foxes, Dugongs, Green sea Turtles, and

Congratulations on your big win. Kangaroos, Fraser Island Dingoes and Jennifer Parkhurst were not addressed by you.

The shooting and electrocution of flying-foxes (to prevent crop damage) was outlawed in Queensland as it was proven to be inhumane, and largely ineffective.

Tens of thousands of animals were killed using methods that often left them to die excruciatingly painful deaths. It sometimes takes days for these Australian native animals to die from their injuries.

The bats killed include large numbers of Grey-headed and Spectacled Flying-foxes. Both are listed as threatened species.

We urge you to withdraw these proposals, and take into consideration the fact that these people who claim the flying foxes are causing crop damage, are a health hazard, and that there are 100,000 in certain areas are exaggerating the figures.

You will find that if you properly investigate these claims, that the numbers will be dramatically lower than what these people claim, and less of a problem with the problems over exaggerated, and crop damage not caused by flying foxes.

Remember that we are also talking about threatened species.

We hope that you will learn lessons from the past, where numbers have been over exaggerated, with our native wildlife driven to extinction because of the failure to properly investigate such complaints.

We look forward to seeing the changes in the act for the Native Title Act, and see the indigenous prosecuted under white man’s law for the inhumane killing of protected native species showing one law for all.

Stopping the sand mining in Stradbroke Island is important before the Island is completely destroyed.

Looking forward to your correspondence on this matter, including shutting down all the commercial

Kangaroo industries, and immediate action on Fraser Island, sacking the rangers, withdrawing the charges and fine against Jennifer Parkhurst with a full refund and apology to her and infact employing her to continue her monitoring of the Fraser Island Dingoes, who was not guilty of any of the charges laid against her, since she was acting under the animal welfare act that was breached by the former Qld Government and rangers.

All these species mentioned in this email maintain a healthy well balanced eco system, with the loss of any single species having serious ramifications against the environment.

Please re read the original email sent on 8 March 2012, and respond to statements made that weren’t addressed in your response on 12 March 2012.

Looking forward to a response and action to all queries for a humane Qld that takes conservation seriously.

Sincerely

Subject: RE: Invitation to Lunch with Campbell Newman & John Howard

Dear Ms Preston,

Mr Newman has asked me to thank you for you correspondence from the 8th March and 9th March. Due to the high number of emails received, please accept our apologies for the delay in responding.

I appreciate that you have taken the time to contact us to raise these important issues.

In regards to your concerns pertaining to the LNP’s policy on Flying Foxes; the LNP is committed to protecting Queensland’s native fauna, including flying foxes.

At the outset, we need to distinguish between small colonies residing in the backyards of many rural properties – many of which are welcomed by property owners, even encouraged – and these huge congregations, some in far excess of 100,000 in places like Charter Towers, Gayndah, Barcaldine and Bargara. These massive urban colonies present significant health risks for the local populations and need to be moved on.

An LNP Government will work with councils and landholders affected by nuisance colonies to ensure human health and agricultural productivity are not adversely affected.

I stress that lethal DMPs will only be issued to farmers where all other non-lethal alternatives have failed or are unsuitable. I am happy to explore alternatives to lethal means should they be available and reasonable in terms of cost.

I appreciate we may have differing opinions on this one but I believe the LNP is offering a very balanced approach – one that balances the ongoing conservation of flying foxes with public health and agricultural production.

Furthermore, An LNP Government will act to protect Queensland’s iconic dugong and turtle populations.

Labor has failed to address animal welfare considerations in relation to some so-called “traditional hunting practices” despite repeated and urgent calls for action by concerned Queenslanders, including from Indigenous leaders.

LNP recognises there is an entitlement of traditional owners to hunt dugongs and sea turtles for non- commercial use under the Native Title Act 1993.

The LNP will work with Indigenous stakeholders to protect Queensland’s dugong and turtle populations from poachers and stop brutality against these iconic species.

Some Indigenous communities have already self-imposed moratoriums or regulated hunting practices by issuing permits and licences – an LNP government will work with Indigenous communities to see this successful and proactive model rolled out across the dugong and turtle habitat.

The LNP will remove the current exemption for traditional hunters from the law that makes it illegal for anyone to wound, mutilate, torture or unnecessarily prolong the death of an animal – enforceable with penalties of up to two years in jail or a $100,000 fine.

This will bring Queensland in line with other states and territories. There is no reason to permit horrendous cruelty to dugongs and turtles, which under any other circumstance would be illegal.

The LNP in Government will seek to partner with other Government agencies, especially the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority – GBRMPA, and, with the guidance of traditional owners and Indigenous organisations, will progressively roll out in all key habitats the successful permit and licensing system developed in the Northern Peninsula Area of Cape York.

The LNP will put a stop to the cruel and inhumane slaughter of these iconic Queensland animals under the guise of ‘traditional practices’.

Thank you again for taking the time to contact us and raise these issues. We cannot have a change in Queensland without a change of Government. Only a vote for a strong, united LNP Team can get Queensland back on track!

Kind regards,

Campbell Newman Team.

Good afternoon,

Further to my email yesterday, to which I have not yet received a response, I need to further add this REPORT BELOW and request your assurance that the Native Title Act will be amended to ensure one law for all, and that the indigenous waged rangers and offenders are prosecuted under the white man’s law for their serious crimes, that animal welfare will be included in the Native Title Act and prosecutions for killing native protected land and marine wildlife will also be included in the Native Title Act.

INHUMANE SLAUGHERS OF PROTECTED ENDANGERED GREEN SEA TURTLES AND DUGONGS IN TORRES STRAIT QUEENSLAND BY INDIGENOUS AUSTRALIANS.

ABC1’s 7.30 report on 8/3/12 exposed extreme cruelty to our protected vulnerable to extinction native Green Sea Turtles and Dugongs at the hands of taxpayer waged indigenous officials, and other indigenous Australians, selling the meat and other parts of the marine life on the black market, please click on this link to see the report: http://www.abc.net.au/7.30/content/2012/s3448943.htm
hunting rights hide horror for dugongs, turtles, Queensland’s Torres Strait far north Qld, far to the south of Qld, Protected endangered Green Sea Turtles chased weekly on Green Island in front of tourists, protected and endangered pregnant Green Sea Turtle with upto125 eggs, tethered for 3 days then inhumanely killed by indigenous Australians, still alive when carved up, dugongs dragged behind boats and drowned.

Taxpayer waged indigenous sea rangers are the head hunters of these inhumane crimes pocketing huge sums of money for the sale of their meat, bones in this illegal trade, with all eskies shipped through the airports addressed to the rangers.

The indigenous Australian legislation fails to protect endangered species from being slaughtered and inhumanely butchered by the indigenous people.

The Native Title Act needs to be immediately changed to protect all endangered species and ensure that the animal welfare act applies – one law for all. No hunting of protected native wildlife, No hunting of protected endangered species, animal welfare applies with imprisonment and huge fines.

The videoed indigenous people and indigenous rangers immediately arrested, charged, prosecuted and imprisoned, accordingly to white man’s law, the rangers immediately terminated from their jobs and banned for life from working with any animals.

Looking forward to your response to all of the matters raised in yesterday’s 8/3/12, CAN BE SEEN BELOW, and today’s 9/3/12 emails.

Sincerely

NORA PRESTON

Subject: Re: Invitation to Lunch with Campbell Newman & John Howard

Good Afternoon,

Thank you for your acknowledgement.

I have been sent some disturbing information that Campbell Newman is proposing for his election.

The Liberal National Party of Qld says they will re-introduce lethal methods of crop protection if elected at the upcoming State elections.

We urge you to withdraw these proposals including sand mining on Stradbroke Island that will destroy a unique island.

You will find that the majority of your voters are looking for the end of inhumane and unnecessary killings of all native wildlife, the kangaroo commercial industries shut down, that those responsible for the dingo cruelty on Fraser Island are terminated from their jobs and their inhumane practices, scientific research etc ended with the withdrawal of charges and fine against Jennifer Parkhurst, and places of interest such as Stradbroke Island maintained untouched, with conservation and animal welfare as a top priority.

Your voters who claim they will vote for you if you continue to allow inhumane killings and reintroduce inhumane methods, driving native wildlife that maintain a healthy well balanced eco system to extinction, and destroy places of interest such as Stradbroke Island are of a minority and therefore are not enough numbers who will get you voted in.

We’ve been disappointed in not seeing any mention of conserving native wildlife, placing them onto the federal wildlife protection list as endangered species, such as the dingo, kangaroos, etc, and ending all inhumane methods currently used, and the conservation of Qld.

Native wildlife do not do the damage that certain people claim they do, you therefore need to be careful who you listen to, in order for you to get voted in, and then continue to work with those of us who are sensible with knowledge and expertise in our areas, after you get voted in.

Qld does need a change, but not in an inhumane way by reintroducing acts of animal cruelty that have been outlawed, and not by destroying Stradbroke Island.

The changes that Qld need is an end of the kangaroo commercial industry, an end to the inhumane unnecessary killing of kangaroos and other macropods, an end to all inhumane killings of animals, an end of driving native wildlife to extinction, an end of listening to the people who don’t know what they are talking about when they say there are millions of wildlife out there, when the sad fact is, that there aren’t, and those are the exact statements that see our native wildlife driven to extinction, by over exaggerating the population, refusing to admit that the numbers are dramatically low.

Looking forward to your response in these matters, and to see them in your can do campaign.

Sincerely

Kangaroos, by signing this petition, and circulating this for us www.gopetition.com/petitions/saveallthe-kangaroos.html  .

In this article, interviewed on 15/4/10, www.nowuc.com.au/2010/05/27/kangaroo-plan…/comment-page-1/

don fletcher from tams says that kangaroos are not the main problem and in fact ‘native grasses’ are not threatened with extinction, but other animals and plants are, and that “the biggest ‘contributor’ to the loss of the natural treeless grasslands of our region has been agriculture (by far)”.

The report is by Julie Lindner, who has also been studying the grasslands and the roos for the past 20 years, which backs up what I’ve been saying all along.

, with a more recent article in the Chronicle in the ‘letters to the editor’ section, titled ‘culling controversy’ p.23, 14/6/11.

‘KANGAROO CHILLER BOX INVESTIGATION’/’KANGAROOS ON TRACK TO EXTINCTION’, that contains the cruel bashing to death of roos that are shot, but not directly killed, hung up while still alive, and left suffering, trembling as they hang, tortured to death, and joeys bashed to death, possibly attempting to decapitate the joeys head on the back of the truck with several blows.

There are more links on youtube to show the facts on the extreme cruelty committed to our native protected macropods.

who are starving them to death, mismanaging them, mistreating them, will prevent driving these spectacular native wildlife species to extinction, and help end acts of animal cruelty. This species maintains a healthy well balanced eco system.

LETTERS FROM TWEED HEADS FOR RECOGNITION OF WILDLIFE CARERS GROUP WORK-TWEED HEADS MAGPIE SAVED.

In September 2011, Wildlife Carers Group made phone calls to the Tweed Heads Police Station to stop the killing of the nesting magpie, that was ordered to be shot by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Services.

Ongoing emails between Wildlife Carers Group, the government department, and Nationals Party, who represented Wildlife Carers Group, with Wildlife Carers Group requesting that they amend their legislation to protect all nesting magpies, in all circumstances.

While we are aware that this amendment can take time, We are still awaiting to see the amended legislation.

On Friday, 25/11/11, Founding President of Wildlife Carers Group, NORA PRESTON, collected Wildlife Carers Group mail, and found a copy of the letter posted out to us by Geoff Provest, written to Geoff Provest MP, Nationals State Member for Tweed, by Robyn Parker MP, Minister for the Environment, Minister for Heritage:

‘Thank you for your representations of 12 September 2011 on behalf of Ms Nora Preston of the Wildlife Carers Group, regarding the management of magpies by the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS). I appreciate you bringing Ms Preston’s concerns to my attention.

The ongoing commitment and hard work of the Wildlife Carers Group is commendable, and I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to Ms Preston for her advice regarding magpies……’

That letter included Geoff’s ‘with compliments’ slip with his hand written note:

‘for your records.

The magpie is still alive and sill in its own territory. Nothing has been heard of its attacks for at least a month’.

Below are the previous reports written by Wildlife Carers Group on the Tweed Heads Magpie saga:

Wildlife Carers Group Responses to replies from National Parks and Wildlife Service, (the licence issued to shoot the magpie has been cancelled, with amendments to NPWS policy being looked at, to remove the word ‘destruction’), and Office of Geoff Provest MP NSW Member for Tweed, The Nationals for Regional NSW, to read the full report please click or copy and paste this link into your browser: https://wildlifecarersgroup.wordpress.com/2011/09/12/tweed-heads-licence-issued-to-shoot-magpie-cancelled/?sn=l

To read yesterdays article to refresh your memory and what Wildlife Carers Group wrote: The Tweed Heads magpie has been spared for now, however to ensure that this mapgie, or any other magpie are never threatened by National Parks and Wildlife Services again, Wildife Carers Group has made a couple of phone calls to Tweed Heads, and sent out emails to educate in avoiding swooping magpies in nesting seasons, rather than issuing licences to kill, to view the full report please click or copy and paste this link into your browser:
https://wildlifecarersgroup.wordpress.com/2011/09/11/wildlife-carers-group-advice-on-npws-tweed-heads-magpie-order-to-shoot/?sn=l

The Sydney Morning Herald ran a poll when it was first announced that NPWS issued a licence to shoot the nesting magpie defending her young, 79% opposed the Magpie from being shot.

Photos of ‘with compliments’ slip from Geoff, and letter from NSW Government Minister for the Environment Robyn Parker MP, received by Geoff’s office on 17/11/11, are below, for your information.

ANIMAL WELFARE-WILDLIFE CARERS GROUP DONATION CERTIFICATE-SPONSORSHIP FOR RADIO AD TO EXPOSE PIG FACTORY FARMING

On 23/11/11, Wildlife Carers Group sent out this report:

Wildlife Carers Group has sponsored a 45 second segment prime time radio ad on one of Australia’s largest commercial stations, copy of receipt shown below, to assist Animals Australia to bring about awareness on pig cruelty in factory farms, and to bring about hefty fines against the offenders, that will assist in ending acts of animal cruelty.

No matter who it is, what industry, which government, anyone in taxpayer paid jobs, who allows any types of acts of animal cruelty, will be prosecuted alongside the offenders who actually commit the acts of animal cruelty, in order to put an end to all acts of animal cruelty.

Below is a photo of the Animals Australia Donation Certificate to Wildlife Carers Group, dated 23/11/11.

KANGAROOS – CHRONICLE ARTICLE 22/11/11, p. 2, by Meredith Clisby.

Article: ‘roo rise puts drivers at risk’

‘…..NRMA Insurance head of research Robert McDonald’ is claiming that suddenly the ACT has a Kangaroo population explosion, but who also ‘….warns drivers to be more prepared on the roads and slow down in wildlife zones the same way as if the weather conditions are bad…..’, echoing Wildlife Carers Group’s Founding President NORA PRESTON’s very own repeated cautions, to slow down and Give Way to our vulnerable wildlife, who have no road sense, with their habitat turned into roads and buildings, while the Chronicle reporter is also quoting ‘an Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate spokeswoman’ who has INCORRECTLY claimed that ‘….the Kangaroo population has increased by about 21 % from last year. This included a 3% decrease at Mulanggari Nature Reserve, and a 64% increase at Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary.’

The ACT government claims that “The fence at Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary removes some of the factors limiting other populations, namely dogs, motor vehicles, and the ability to disperse into surrounding suburbs”,..

“Consequently the Kangaroo population at the sanctuary increased dramatically in response to the good seasonal conditions.” …..NRMA Insurance received 450 claims for animal-related collisions in 2010, while AAMI received 492…444 of these claims were for Kangaroos. The other claims included 12 for domestic or farm animal collisions and 38 wild animal collisions, including 16 Wombats, 4 Wallabies, a flock of galahs, an emu and 2 koalas.

While the ACT Government and the Australian road rules require people to report collisions with animals, there were only 117 reported crashes of this type in 2010.

The Directorate spokeswoman said while the ACT Government focused its road safety resources towards preventing “the most serious injury” to people, there had been important steps taken to minimise collisions with Kangaroos. This includes the use of 25 GPS tracking collars to map the movements, including road crossings of Kangaroos and the use of funnel fencing and underpasses.

She said further fencing and underpasses would be considered on all new high speed roads where underpass construction would be cost effective. Next year the ACT Government will also trial a new telephone-linked tracking system for Kangaroos, which will email data daily by SMS.

Mr McDonald said the best advice for avoiding Kangaroos was to slow down in sign posted Kangaroo hotspots, never swerve to avoid hitting them, and get used to the ABS if your car had it.’

While Wildlife Carers Group was initially advising on fencing for Kangaroos, further experience has unfortunately shown that fencing seriously injures and kills Kangaroos and their Joeys, as they are frightened, chased, they jump into high fences, that they cannot clear, such as the high fencing at Rose Cottage horse paddocks, where Wildlife Carers Group has had to rescue severely injured Kangaroos from, other fences that the larger females can clear, the smaller Joeys hopping after their mother, cannot clear, and get seriously injured or horrifically killed, suffering if they aren’t found and handed in to Wildlife Carers Group for immediate treatment.

Underpasses have also been found to be hazardous to Kangaroos, when they have been frightened, Kangaroos who are being chased by idiots, and/or their uncontrolled dogs, etc take a flying leap to escape these offenders, and crash down on the concrete underpass, seriously injuring themselves, or killing them.

All native wildlife are protected, therefore, it is an offence to chase, harass, harm, kill, any native wildlife, and the offenders will be prosecuted.

The government and their departments have been warned by Wildlife Carers Group on numerous occasions, that the collars with the GPS, were unfit and invasive for Kangaroos, that have seen the Kangaroos killed on the roads, with the GPS collars causing them to lose their coordination, because of the large invasive collars, and further, the GPS equipment that is attached.

The Government departments and the Government have on numerous occasions been warned and advised by Wildlife Carers Group, to use the tiny macro GPS chips, that are inserted under the skin, and are not invasive.

The new telephone-linked GPS system will need to be a tiny macro GPS system, that will need to be fitted under the skin, otherwise, Wildlife Carers Group will need to take action to end the continued inhumane treatment of our native, protected Kangaroos.

The Kangaroo population has not boomed.

We are seeing far too much construction work, and developments in the ACT, destroying wildlife habitat, and accelerating climate change.

The Kangaroos have lost their habitat, which only gives the appearance of a Kangaroo population explosion.

The Kangaroo population has dramatically declined, with only 20 Kangaroo calls in 2010, and less in 2011.

This drastic decline is because of over culling by the ACT government, and private land owners, and unnecessary dangerous high speed roads that the government has constructed, regardless of the fact that the majority of the ACT population were opposed to any future road developments, with the same majority of the population who were also opposed to any further housing, etc developments, in order to save the Bush Capital, the native wildlife fauna and flora, wildlife habitat, and to maintain open space, to reduce the effects of climate change, wishing for a stress free living environment in our Bush Capital.

Just because people claimed that they hit Kangaroos, in order to claim insurance, does not mean that all the claimants have been honest in what they have hit.

Psychotic drivers deliberately crash into cars, parked or otherwise.

They are fully aware that what they have done is illegal, they can’t admit to deliberately crashing into a parked car, etc, so they will lie, and will say that they hit a Kangaroo, or an animal, or that an animal jumped into them, and hit them, etc. in order to claim insurance.

Yes, I speak with experience, my parked car was crashed into. How do you suppose the illegal hit and run offenders claimed their insurance.

DOG CRUELTY in BOSNIA and the ACT

A Wildlife Carers Group member sent this article and petition through to be circulated and signed.

Wildlife Carers Group has signed this petition: Dear NORA,

Thank you for signing the JUSTICE For Vucko! petition

Thank-you for signing,Rene Davis

Vucko was a German Shepherd living in Bosnia who had fireworks stuffed into his mouth, and set off. He suffered with half his face blown off, wandering the streets for 5 days, before someone found the dog, and handed him in for treatment.

The petition is for stricter laws for offences such as this, to end acts of animal cruelty.

DOG CRUELTY IN THE ACT

In the scorching 30 degree heat, on Monday 14/11/11, this dog was left on the back of a light truck, exposed to the heat, with no food and water, no shade, for hours, in the suburb of Kambah, while the owner walked around, in between mowing his lawns, and whipper snipping, throwing all the rubbish over his dog, that she repeatedly had to shake off herself.

The owner can be seen walking back to his truck, after one of his walks around the neighbourhood, while his dog is left on the back of his truck in the scorching 30 degree heat, no shade, no water, no food, with rubbish dumped on her, that he also parked dangerously on the road, before a blind bend, outside his own residence, who was also causing an obstruction, as you can see in the photo, the recycle bin has not been collected yet, and is also endangering lives, attempting to cause a crash, an injury, or a death. Cyclists would not be able to avoid on coming traffic, from the blind bend, and serious injuries and/or death.

When you see people like the above man, who is trying very hard to inhumanely kill  his dog through heat stroke, heat exhaustion, exposure, who don’t care about animals, you can be certain that they most definitely don’t care about people.

Roads authority/Australian Road Rules have failed to place priority on public safety  here.

This road needs to be marked as a Clearway.

Please click on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbn3c8EcNRk&feature=related , so called controlled government butchering, you will note that the kangaroos are still alive when hung up, suffering, AND BEING TORTURED TO DEATH, the male is laughing at the cruelty he has just inflicted on this kangaroo, a joey stomped to death, even the child stomps on it as he walks past following his father, orphaned joeys hopping around, left to starve to death, a joey bashed till its eyes popped out, but is still alive, suffering, a prolonged death, and the male admitting that these are protected species. Native protected animals called pests, the very same native animals that maintain a healthy well balanced eco system. The code of practice that the shooter refers to is inhumane, and unacceptable, as witnessed in this video footage.

TWEED HEADS LICENCE ISSUED TO SHOOT MAGPIE CANCELLED.

Wildlife Carers Group Responses to replies from National Parks and Wildlife Service, (the licence issued to shoot the magpie has been cancelled, with amendments to NPWS policy being looked at, to remove the word ‘destruction’), and Office of Geoff Provest MP NSW Member for Tweed, The Nationals for Regional NSW, and to read yesterdays article to refresh your memory and what Wildlife Carers Group wrote: The Tweed Heads magpie has been spared for now, however to ensure that this mapgie, or any other magpie are never threatened by National Parks and Wildlife Services again, Wildife Carers Group has made a couple of phone calls to Tweed Heads, and sent out emails to educate in avoiding swooping magpies in nesting seasons, rather than issuing licences to kill, to view the full report please click or copy and paste this link into your browser: https://wildlifecarersgroup.wordpress.com/2011/09/11/wildlife-carers-group-advice-on-npws-tweed-heads-magpie-order-to-shoot/?sn=l:

Response from Wildlife Carers Group

“Dear Damien,

Thank you for your quick response.

It would be an acceptable outcome, for the ‘destruction’ to be removed from the ‘NPWS policy on Management of Native Birds that Show Aggression to People 2003‘.

However, interfering with the nesting birds, by removing and relocating them, is not an option.

Magpies are extremely territorial, and will kill each other, if you relocate a nest and parents into another Magpies territory.

The parent cannot be trapped and removed from its nest and young, and partner either.

Magpies work together to feed their young, and again, the parent will be killed by other territorial Magpies.

The nesting season is short.

The continued education for the public to protect themselves in nesting season, and preferably avoid the route of nesting magpies altogether, until nesting season is over, along with your warning signs of nesting magpies, should be adequate.

If any member of the public choose to ignore your warning signs, and they get attacked, it is at their own risk, and you should include that on your warning signs, then you cannot be held accountable.

You can add our concerns to the register as well, that will be provided to the Office of Environment and Heritage policy unit, to remove ‘destruction’ from the policy, but omit, ‘trap and relocate’, for the above reasons given.

Your response and copy of amendments to the NPWS policy on Management of Native Birds that Show Aggression to People 2003, would be greatly appreciated.”

Subject: NSW national Parks and Wildlife Services order to shoot Tweed Heads Magpie

Dear Ms Preston

Thank you for your email regarding the magpie at Industry Drive in South Tweed Heads. I note that the phone number you were given was incorrect. For future reference our office number is 6670 8600.

As you have noted the licence you referred to has been cancelled. Through the coverage of this story the magpie season has been very well publicised ensuring that the vast majority of people can now avoid or protect themselves from swooping magpies.

When dealing with magpie complaints the first action is to seek tolerance and understanding from the complainant. When taking complaints on magpies swooping staff try to educate the complainant and request people protect themselves with an umbrella, hat and glasses along with altering their route if possible to avoid the area. Signage is placed at the swooping location to warn people.

With all magpie swooping complaints Tweed Area staff follow the NPWS Policy on Management of Native Birds that Show Aggression to People, which was adopted in 2003. As per the policy a risk assessment was undertaken concluding that it was highly likely the bird would strike causing injury again.

We have received a number of requests requesting alterations to the NPWS Policy on Management of Native Birds that Show Aggression to People. If you wish I can add your concern to the register that will be provided to the Office of Environment and Heritage policy unit. The majority of requested amendments focus on removing the option of destruction from the policy and including the provision for staff to allow trapping and relocation.

Thank you for your email expressing your concerns.

Yours Sincerely

Damien

Dear Nora

Geoff was horrified when he heard about this case last week and immediately went and spoke to the Minister. Her office has been in contact with the local NPWS with the outcome that, for the present, no action is being taken.

The NPWS has the power to issue a destroy order if public safety is at risk and it is important that this power is retained. However, whether this power should have been invoked in this case is under discussion in the context of future policy directives.

Your comments have been passed on to the Minister’s office for inclusion in these discussions.

Possum Abattoir – Lenah Game Meats, Tasmania —EngageMedia

These animals are still alive and awake, when going through the abattoir’s chute processing system, dropped on top of one another, through a swinging door, to go through to the next phase, with several possums piled on top of one another, into the same boxes, when delivered to the abattoir, (possums are extremely territorial,) females with joeys, butchered, and bashed to death. Please Help stop these extreme acts of animal cruelty and export. You can help stop these extreme acts of animal cruelty to these possums by adding the above link to the possum abattoir and lodging your submissions by 23/4/10, to wta@environment.gov.au, wildlife.enq@dpipwe.tas.gov.auand click on link http://www.environment.gov.au/biodiversity/trade-use/invitecomment/brushtail-possum.html Submissions are now closed. Shutting down this industry will help end acts of animal cruelty, and prevent this species from being driven to extinction. This species maintains a healthy, well balanced eco system.

Dingoes

Terminating the rangers from their jobs, who are responsible for the inhumane treatment of dingoes on Fraser Island, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSSaknF6Wnw&feature=youtu.be, who are starving them to death, mismanaging them, mistreating them will prevent driving these spectacular native wildlife species to extinction, and help end acts of animal cruelty. Changing the Qld government legislation and constitution, to humanely conserve this species, and their habitat. Erecting GIVE WAY to DINGOES/WILDLIFE Signs. We can see their marine life up and down the Qld coast, however, the only unique sighting that Fraser Island can boast about, and offer to the tourists, is the pure breed native Dingoes, once the last 60-80 odd Dingoes that are left on the Island are driven to extinction, through arrogance, mismanagement and mistreatment, Fraser Island will have nothing left to offer to the huge tourist trade it currently holds, which will end Fraser Island tourism. This species maintains a healthy well balanced eco system.
