WILDLIFE CARERS GROUP SEEKING ANY INFORMATION ON ANIMAL CRUELTY TO A LONG NECKED TORTOISE RESCUED ON AUSTRALIA DAY 26/1/12 AFTER THE FIREWORKS; TASMANIAN VISIT PUBLISHED IN TT LINK; FRASER ISLAND DINGOES. 30/1/12.

WILDLIFE CARERS GROUP SEEKING ANY INFORMATION ON ANIMAL CRUELTY TO A LONG NECKED TORTOISE RESCUED ON AUSTRALIA DAY 26/1/12 AFTER THE FIREWORKS. 30/1/12.

Wildlife Carers Group is calling for any witnesses to a person or people who was responsible for hammering a stick with a fishing line and hook into the ground, with a Long necked Tortoise left hanging off from the other end of it at the Carillion on Australia Day at the fireworks 26/1/12.

Anyone with any information, please phone or text Wildlife Carers Group on mobile number 0406 056 099, or email wildlife_carers_group@yahoo.com.au with Tortoise Cruelty Australia Day in the subject heading.

This is a serious offence and will lead to prosecution.

All native wildlife are protected.

This incident has been reported to the police.

Wildlife Carers Group received a call for an injured tortoise that had been baited by fisherperson/people with a fishing line and hook at the Carillion on Australia Day.

After the fireworks Founding President NORA PRESTON of Wildlife Carers Group took one of the many calls received on Australia Day for the injured tortoise.

The fisherperson/people responsible for this inhumane act, had apparently hammered a stick with the fishing line and hook  into the ground, and just walked away leaving the poor tortoise attached to the other end of it, at the Carillion in Acton.

Nora took the Long-necked Tortoise to the vet to have the fishing line and fish hook removed.

Photos taken by NORA PRESTON.

Long-necked tortoise in surgery, instrument in foreground used to pull the tortoise’s neck out, and to secure the head and hold it still, instrument in background used to force tortoise’s mouth open, and a pair of pliers used to cut the fishing line.

The instruments used to pull the head of the tortoise out of the shell and to hold it while another instrument is used to try to force open the mouth to pull out the fishing line and the hook.

Having difficulty in forcing open the mouth, giving the tortoise a little break.

Finally success in forcing the tortoise’s mouth open.

Fishing line can be seen trying to pull out the fish hook.

The tortoise had unfortunately swallowed the fish hook.

The tortoise is currently on antibiotics and kept under observation.

We caution carers not to attempt the removing of fishing lines and fish hooks that have been swallowed by the wildlife themselves, at home.

Wildlife Carers Group has written many reports warning of carelessly discarded fishing lines and fish hooks, having to remove them from Swans, Ducks, and other water/marine wildlife because of irresponsible fisherpeople, and had also approached the former government to have fishing lines and hooks banned.

We again call for the immediate ban of  the use of the inhumane fishing lines and fish hooks to prevent any further distressed wildlife that slowly die an agonising death if not found, and that is also inhumane to the fish.

FRASER ISLAND DINGOES DRIVEN TO EXTINCTION

Wildlife Carers Group Fraser Island Dingoes report commented that the only way we will be able to see the Dingoes is through stuffed toys, and during our visit our only evidence of any Dingoes being on the Island was through footprints in the sand that Nora Preston photographed.

Well, Fraser Island had better start encasing the Dingoes footprints in the sand, because the stuffed toys are also now extinct.

Just before Xmas Wildlife Carers Group received this email from a reader of our report in the USA who saw Nora’s photo of the stuffed toy:

From: Andy Martin
To: “wildlife_carers_group@yahoo.com.au” <wildlife_carers_group@yahoo.com.au>
Sent: Wednesday, 30 November 2011 6:10 AM
Subject: Dingo stuffed animal

I am looking to purchase the dingo stuffed animal that was on your website. Is this something you could help me with? I live in the US

Family Dollar Stores

Our emails backwards and forwards in the attempt to find the stuffed toys became fruitless, with Nora contacting the company who made the stuffed Dingo toy, who said that they no longer make them, but sent her other links to try, which were forwarded on to Andy.

He finally had luck in finding an American Dingo stuffed soft toy instead, through one of the links.

Fraser Island Dingo taken in May 2011, looking very scrawny and unhealthy.

This statement is admitting to the flawed, dishonest kangaroo management plan, and russell watkinson’s media release, on Friday 18/6/10, that blames the kangaroos for driving legless lizards, earless dragons, etc, and the deteriorating grasslands and woodlands to extinction, by eating all the grasses, when fletcher admits that the native grasses are not threatened by the kangaroos, but by human activity, including toxic sprays.

Terminating the rangers from their jobs, who are responsible for the inhumane treatment of dingoes on Fraser Island , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSSaknF6Wnw&feature=youtu.be, who are starving them to death, mismanaging them, mistreating them, will prevent driving these spectacular native wildlife species to extinction, and help end acts of animal cruelty. Changing the Qld government legislation and constitution, to humanely conserve this species, and their habitat. Erecting GIVE WAY to DINGOES/WILDLIFE Signs. We can see their marine life up and down the Qld coast, however, the only unique sighting that Fraser Island can boast about, and can offer to the tourists, is the pure breed native Dingoes, once the last 90 odd Dingoes, population estimation as of 28-29 August 2011, (since the mismanaged Fraser Island fire by the Qld government, this Dingo population has more than likely dropped dramatically), that are left on the Island are driven to extinction, through arrogance, mismanagement and mistreatment, Fraser Island will have nothing left to offer to the huge tourist trade it currently holds, which will end Fraser Island tourism. This species maintains a healthy well balanced eco system.

Good afternoon,

I filled out your online form, however, I’m not sure whether or not it just deleted itself, since I didn’t receive a message stating that you have received the enquiry after sending it.

Wildlife Carers Group was in touch with you and your native wildlife meat provider last year, and the year before, about the extreme acts of animal cruelty on the possums in tasmania, and the kangaroos before they hit your venue, and the fact that they are being driven to extinction.

Please click on the links below, including the links on the testing of kangaroo meat and the diseases.

Wildlife Carers Group tested the kangaroo meat in July 2011, and found all of them to be highly contaminated, the link is below for you, you are therefore poisoning everyone.

With the added information, we again urge you to take off all native wildlife on your menu, and to not encourage this inhumane industry that is driving our native wildlife to extinction, by purchasing their products.

Wildlife Carers Group visited Tasmania 29/12/11, and found that all the possum boxes that were once filled with possums, now sit in the trees empty, with the possums being driven to extinction.

Until we hear back from you to let us know that you have deleted native wildlife off your menu, your cafe is boycotted.

Your earliest response is greatly appreciated.

WILDLIFE CARERS GROUP VISIT TO TASMANIA-WILDLIFE BEING DRIVEN TO EXTINCTION; WILDLIFE CARE 2/1/12

VISIT TO TASMANIA – WILDLIFE BEING DRIVEN TO EXTINCTION; WILDLIFE CARE 2/1/12

You may recall Wildlife Carers Group report on the FRASER ISLAND Dingoes, when the only sighting of a dingo was footprints in the sand and a stuffed toy, warning that inhumane treatment of the FI Dingoes, and driving them to extinction is not acceptable, as seen on these links: https://wildlifecarersgroup.wordpress.com/2011/08/29/fraser-island-dingoes-driven-to-extinction/?sn=l; and:  https://wildlifecarersgroup.wordpress.com/2011/09/06/wildlife-carers-group-investigation-and-report-on-the-fraser-island-dingoes-qld-liberal-national-party-takes-action-to-protect-fraser-island-dingoes/?sn=l

Tasmania’s last famous words were for the Tasmanian Tiger – Thylacine, Thylacinus cynocephalus, was that, there are zillions of them, and then there were none.

Stuffed toys and media releases are the only way to see the Tasmanian Tiger today, no more footprints to photograph.

This species is held close to my heart, as I may have been one of the last few people to see this species alive on the mainland in the 1960’s, on a family friend’s property, more of a hobby farm really, where they had a wooded area, and a cleared area where they had some dairy cows. The Tasmanian Tiger (TT) stepped out of the wooded habitat onto the cleared grasslands, stopped when it saw me, watched me as I stood still at the sight of the Tiger, with the TT then turning back around, and slowly walking back to the wooded habitat.

After this sighting, there were media releases with certain people asking for anyone who had sighted the Tasmanian Tiger, to respond, to which I foolishly responded to, and let them know the property where I sighted it, which was probably the death of the poor unfortunate, and possibly the last animal of its kind, seen alive.

If by some miracle you do happen to see a TT, keep it to yourself, don’t tell a soul.

A FAMILY OF TASMANIAN TIGERS – BRING THEM BACK. IT IS FAR BETTER TO SPEND TAXPAYERS MONEY ON RESURRECTING THIS SPECIES, RATHER THAN ON DRIVING ALL OF OUR OTHER NATIVE WILDLIFE TO EXTINCTION THROUGH INHUMANE KILLING. STOP THE KILLING.

Tasmania has not learnt their lesson after driving this remarkable species to extinction.

The Wallabies – Pademelons and Red-necked, Eastern Grey Kangaroos, Possums – Ring-tailed, Brush-tailed, along with all their other precious native flora and fauna wildlife species, are quickly disappearing in Tasmania, with the same arrogant remarks, ‘there are zillions of them all over the place‘, and then there will be none, at the rate that they are being killed by the government, over development, etc, and the unacceptable attitude of most of the Tasmanians, who appear to deliberately run the native wildlife down for daring to share the roads with the motorists, that have been built in the native wildlife’s habitat.
PADEMELON WALLABY

Tasmanian Brush-tailed Possum and joey before they disappeared

Tasmanian Brush-tailed Possum and joey on her back before they disappeared

For those Tasmanians who care, who set up their garden, and attempt to rebuild their gardens to resemble the native forest and bushland that once existed in Tasmania, who go to the trouble of building possum boxes etc, to give back a home to the native wildlife, have watched the possums disappear, replaced by domestic rats, lucky to see 1 or 2 Pademelons hopping around, and then run down by motorists, some bird life can still be seen, but not as many as there should be, and very rare to see all the other extremely important native wildlife that should exist in Tasmania, that maintain a healthy well balanced eco system.

The possum boxes that have been carefully installed to replace the loss of habitat for the possums, that were once filled with possums living in them, now sit in the trees empty, with all the possums now gone.

Other Tasmanians have ripped out all the trees, and the rest of the flora, some grow some grass, majority bare a barren yard.

80% of the Tasmanian Devils have been wiped out, road kills, poisoned baits, facial tumours, with the facial tumours more than likely being caused by consuming 2nd hand poisoned baits, toxic sprays etc released into the atmosphere, weakening the devil species by killing off the strongest gene pool, over killing the species, over development, native plants replaced with toxic plants, their poisoned food chain, introduced diseases into their food chain, weakening their food chain through killing off the strongest gene pool species, until there is nothing left.

The Tasmanian Devils facial tumours are human caused, another government bungle, and who ignore the experts’ warnings and advice.

Along with road kills etc, the Tasmanian Devil is going going gone.

Taxpayers money has to be spent on educating the public to co-exist with native wildlife flora and fauna, and the fact that our native flora and fauna maintain a healthy well balanced eco system, for this very reason, to teach the public tolerance and respect for our native flora and fauna wildlife, and to participate in saving all our native flora and fauna, slow down on the roads to prevent road injuries and kills, and stop the government, etc killing.

During the Tasmanian visit, we saw no possums, we were able to count 2 Pademelons, we saw no Eastern Grey Kangaroos, we saw no Red-necked Wallabies, and we saw some bird life, 1 Platypus, and that was it.

THERE WERE 4 SWANS IN THE TASMANIAN ARBORETUM

THERE WERE APPROX. 10 NATIVE HENS AND CHICKS IN THE TASMANIAN ARBORETUM

The wildlife we came across was extremely frightened, that ran, swam, hopped away, due to the inhumane treatment that they witness and receive by the Tasmanian Government, and some of the Tasmanian locals, that wasn’t confined to the Tasmanian Arboretum.

Immediate changes must be made, starting with Tasmania’s possum abattoir, to be urgently shut down before it is too late and there are no possums left. Wildlife Carers Group already warned the Tasmanian Government a few years ago, that they were driving the species to extinction, with their draft management plan for the commercial harvest and export of the Brush-tailed Possum, in which it was evident that the possums were not being counted, along with the inhumane treatment in the abattoir of these animals.

Macropod commercial industries must be immediately shut down Australia wide, to prevent any further inhumane killings and extinction of these species.

Inhumane macropod research to cease that can be monitored without any further human interference.

Fraser Island Dingo cruelty to end along with unnecessary killing, and inhumane research that can be monitored without any further human interference, with a full term wildlife rehabilitation centre set up for all sick, injured, orphaned Dingoes, and all other native wildlife.

Involve the farmers with the wildlife, by having them monitor and count the wildlife, rather than shooting them, only if necessary, just fire a warning shot to scare them off, but make sure that the farmers don’t shoot any birds during their warning shots. Pay the farmers to help save our native flora and fauna, and to provide habitat and food for them to assist in their survival, and to assist our native wildlife to maintain a healthy well balanced eco system, and reduce the effects of climate change.

WILDLIFE

Wildlife Carers Group is receiving a lot of calls, so please be patient with the phone getting congested.

We return calls, but if the number is wrong or inaudible, sometimes we can’t decipher the correct number.

If you haven’t left a number, we can’t return your calls.

Please leave your number, and repeat it again to make sure you are leaving the correct number, and to give us a chance in writing it down, and let us know what you are calling about.

If Kangaroos hop into your yard, and they aren’t injured, it is more than likely that they have been chased by dogs, or stupid people who think they are funny. You can leave a bucket of water for them, step back, leave them alone, and allow them to return to the paddock when they are ready to go.

Terrorising wildlife is not at all funny, and is illegal, that will lead to prosecution.

When confronted by wildlife, please put your dogs back on the leash, and keep your dogs under control, even if you are in a dog exercising paddock.

Wildlife are vulnerable and need us to look out for them, so please keep your pets under control, drive safely and slowly to avoid collisions with wildlife, and you’ll find that the environment will be forever grateful to you for assisting to save our wildlife that maintain a healthy well balanced eco system, reducing the effects of climate change.

Please do not leave any injured wildlife unattended to be taken by birds, or pets, or run down. It is preferable to have a box or carrier handy near the injured wildlife, and place the wildlife straight into it, using a towel. Cover up the entire injured wildlife, gently lift the wildlife and place it in a newspaper lined box, cover it and secure it.

Remember that echidnas may have puggles (babies) in their den waiting for them to be fed, so if you see an uninjured echidna, please don’t interfere with it, allow it to continue along its path to feed and to get back to her puggles. If she is on the road, then check to see which direction she is heading in, keep her in the same direction, and take her off the road, place her safely away from the road, facing in the same direction that she was travelling in.

You can help us make the necessary changes for our native protected Eastern Grey

Kangaroos, by signing this petition, and circulating this for us www.gopetition.com/petitions/saveallthe-kangaroos.html .

In this article, interviewed on 15/4/10, www.nowuc.com.au/2010/05/27/kangaroo-plan…/comment-page-1/  don fletcher from tams says that kangaroos are not the main problem and in fact ‘native grasses’ are not threatened with extinction, but other animals and plants are, and that “the biggest ‘contributor’ to the loss of the natural treeless grasslands of our region has been agriculture (by far)”.

Please check out this link http://www.canberratimes.com.au/news/local/news/general/roo-best-custodian-for-some-plants/1652005.aspx , that was in the Canberra times on 17/10/09, that completely refutes the allegations against the roos destroying grasslands, that was sent to maxine cooper, that were also ignored.

The report is by Julie Lindner, who has also been studying the grasslands and the roos for the past 20 years, which backs up what I’ve been saying all along.

http://www.canberratimes.com.au/news/local/news/general/roo-best-custodian-for-some-plants/1652005.aspx, with a more recent article in the Chronicle in the ‘letters to the editor’ section, titled ‘culling controversy’ p.23, 14/6/11.

Please click on this link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUZrKj6ClBg  ‘KANGAROO CHILLER BOX INVESTIGATION’/’KANGAROOS ON TRACK TO EXTINCTION’, that contains the cruel bashing to death of roos that are shot, but not directly killed, hung up while still alive, and left suffering, trembling as they hang, tortured to death, and joeys bashed to death, possibly attempting to decapitate the joeys head on the back of the truck with several blows.

Please click on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbn3c8EcNRk&feature=related , so called controlled government butchering, you will note that the kangaroos are still alive when hung up, suffering, AND BEING TORTURED TO DEATH, the male is laughing at the cruelty he has just inflicted on this kangaroo, a joey stomped to death, even the child stomps on it as he walks past following his father, orphaned joeys hopping around, left to starve to death, a joey bashed till its eyes popped out, but is still alive, suffering, a prolonged death, and the male admitting that these are protected species. Native protected animals called pests, the very same native animals that maintain a healthy well balanced eco system. The code of practice that the shooter refers to is inhumane, and unacceptable, as witnessed in this video footage. Kangaroos are not fit for human or dog consumption, heavily contaminated with various diseases/harmful bacterias, e.coli, salmonella, staphylococcus, streptococcus, toxoplasmosis, preserved illegally with sulphur dioxide that causes thiamine deficiency, (a white crystalline solid forming part of the vitamin B complex, C12H17CIN4OS; a vitamin (B1), required by the nervous system, absence of which causes beri-beri and other disorders), causing death, intake of pesticide spraying to control locusts, etc. Keep watching till it stops, keep an eye on the timer, next to the speaker symbol, length 10:59.
