COMPLAINTS ON MISTREATMENT OF KANGAROOS, WILDLIFE RESCUE, ACT INTRODUCING CATTLE TO EAT THE GRASS, TAKING AWAY FOOD FROM OUR NATIVE WILDLIFE+ANIMAL WELFARE AND TURKEYS-bing lee’s free giveaways from Animal Lib. 18/11/11.

Last month Wildlife Carers Group received complaints against tams continued mistreatment of Kangaroos either just needing to be rescued, or injured Kangaroos, where tams continue to fail to provide humane treatment of sick, injured, orphaned Eastern Grey Kangaroos.

Wildlife Carers Group is still fighting for the amendment of the wildlife rehabilitation licence, for full term rehabilitation for ALL sick, injured, orphaned native wildlife, that includes Eastern Grey Kangaroos, and other native wildlife that are currently omitted from the licence.

We also noted in the Canberra Times on 24/10/11, on page 8, under Editorial and Letters, a letter written by Philip Machin, Wamboin, NSW, where he writes: ……Last week we learnt that when the ACT rangers do respond – the kangaroo in Garema Place – they don’t do too well. This kangaroo was hog-tied with narrow plastic ties, dumped in a vehicle and released in the Canberra Nature Park. No attention was given to the animal’s welfare. Clearly our system is not working.

Tams and the Government have been warned more than once by Wildlife Carers Group of their inhumane treatment of wildlife, that can lead to prosecution.

Tams and the Government, who continue to abuse taxpayers money on unnecessary killing, unacceptable acts of animal cruelty, etc,  by paying and using unqualified, inexperienced staff, in the government and at the rspca, etc, and taking advice from unqualified inexperienced rspca staff, etc, with none of these agencies having any knowledge on wildlife, and who don’t care about the harmful repercussions that occur through their actions, have been warned more than once by Wildlife Carers Group, to amend the Nature Conservation Act 1980, to amend the fruadulent Kangaroo Management Plan, to amend the Draft ACT Pest Animal Management Strategy 2011-2021, accordingly, as is necessary and as instructed by Wildlife Carers Group.

Clearly the only way to resolve the governments system that is not working, is to amend Wildlife Carers Group Wildlife Rehabilitation Licence, to ensure the full term rehabilitation of ALL sick, injured, orphaned native wildlife, to amend the Nature Conservation Act 1980, to amend the fruadulent Kangaroo Management Plan, to amend the Draft ACT Pest Animal Management Strategy 2011-2021, accordingly, as is necessary and as instructed by Wildlife Carers Group.

I am not certain if tams would have released the kangaroo from Garema Place, the outcome was more likely, that they took it out the back and killed it.

To rescue uninjured kangaroos in the city, etc, if it is a large animal, tams will need to learn to dart the animals with the correct dosage, wrap it in a large blanket or 2, drive it to the nearest reserve where they rescued the animal from, leave it in the blankets but unwrap the animals, wait with it, but from a safe distance, until the animal wakes up and hops away, then retrieve their blankets.

For younger animals, joeys, tams will need pouches of different sizes to suit the different aged animals, however, they may not be released if their mother isn’t around, they will need to be handed into Wildlife Carers Group for rehabilitation, that could take upto 18 months.

As Wildlife Carers Group has also repeatedly warned tams about, is that their light trucks that they use are not suitable for rescues, they must either change their vehicles to vans, or put the canopy back on their light trucks.

Wildlife Carers Group is receiving an enormous amount of phone calls for sick, injured, orphaned native wildlife, our phone has to be recharged 2-3 times a day, we therefore ask for your patience with your calls.

Remember to leave your phone number, and repeat it at the end of your messages.

A lot of our callers forget to leave the most important thing in the message, their phone numbers, or their correct numbers.

Clearly state what the call is about, what native wildlife you are calling about, etc.

When the phone goes to voice message, we are on other calls.

FROM WILDLIFE BYTES AUSTRALIA

Wildlife Carers Group has edited their article below to correct their typo error.

“The A.C.T. Government (arguably the most disfuntional government in Australia) has placed a heavy dependence on grazing cattle as part of its bushfire management strategy in Parks and Reserves around Canberra this year. A warning from the Emergency Services Agency has stated that additional hazard reduction measures are needed to protect Canberrans this summer. ESA Commissioner Mark Crosweller predicted one of the worst fire seasons in 25 years lay ahead of ACT residents because of high fuel levels caused by last year’s wet summer. So the Government environmental agency TAMS is grazing cattle (presumably agisted, so the cattle owners pay for the privilage) and slashing to reduce fuel loads. During the last few years the ACT government has deliberately killed thousands of kangaroos in the Parks around Canberra….now they have to introduce cattle to control grasses for fire prevention! *”

IF THE ACT GOVERNMENT WOULD HAVE LISTENED TO WILDLIFE CARERS GROUP’S REPEATED WARNINGS TO LEAVE THE KANGAROOS ALONE FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS, RATHER THAN UNNECESSARILY TORTURING THEM TO DEATH, THE GRASSLANDS WOULD BE AT A CONTROLLABLE LEVEL.

THE HOOVED CATTLE WILL DESTROY THE HABITAT, KILL ALL NATIVE WILDLIFE, SUCH AS LEGLESS LIZARDS, EARLESS DRAGONS, ETC, THAT THE GOVERNMENT CLAIMED THEY WERE PROTECTING AGAINST THE SOFT FOOTED KANGAROOS.

THE TRUTH COMES OUT EVERYTIME THE GOVERNMENT OPENS THEIR MOUTH, WHO PROVE THEIR TOTAL INCOMPETENCE, BECAUSE OF THEIR FAILURE TO LIAISE WITH WILDLIFE CARERS GROUP.

THE SOFT FOOTED KANGAROOS WERE NEVER DESTROYING THE NATIVE GRASSLANDS, THE HABITAT FOR THE LEGLESS LIZARDS, EARLESS DRAGONS, ETC. OR DRIVING ANY OF THESE SPECIES TO EXTINCTION.

ALL ALONG, IT HAS BEEN THE ACT GOVERNMENT ERADICATING OUR VULNERABLE NATIVE WILDLIFE.

NATURE RESERVES, ETC, ARE FOR NATIVE WILDLIFE AND NOT FOR CATTLE OR SHEEP.

THESE UNACCEPTABLE ACTIONS OF A DYSFUNCTIONAL GOVERNMENT WILL HAVE TO END.

HAVE YOUR SAY.

ATTENTION: The managers of Bing Lee.

Good afternoon,

We would like to express our concerns regarding your current promotion which offers a free Ingham’s turkey, with every fridge purchase, in an animal welfare capacity.

We are certain that after reading the unacceptable extreme acts of animal cruelty to Turkeys, in the information below, that you will forfeit your free giveaway of ingham’s turkeys, and replace your free giveaway to a material object that is suitable to the use of Fridges, such as Ice trays, egg holders, margarine holders, etc.

In Australia three to five million turkeys are killed annually. Commercially raised turkeys are reared inside crowded sheds with thousands of other birds resulting in an average space per bird no larger than an A3 sheet of paper.

As a result, turkeys grown for meat suffer a range of health and welfare problems. Turkeys develop burns on their legs and breasts, making them more susceptible to infection. Turkeys often develop wounds (due to the overcrowded conditions) which become smothered in their own waste, causing painful infections. Poor air quality can cause respiratory and eye diseases and contribute to reduced food intake, causing weight loss and lameness. Consequently, thousands of lame birds and ill birds who are unable to reach food and water will invariably die of starvation.

Another central health problem is that turkeys have been so genetically altered to grow excessively large that they suffer painful health problems such as crippled legs and feet and swollen joints and experience great difficulty in supporting their overweight bodies. They are often barely able to walk. This excessive weight also makes them susceptible to heart disease.

A further pressing welfare issue is that turkeys are subjected to artificial insemination due to the fact that male turkeys (toms) are so large that they are unable to mate naturally. Instead, male turkeys are ‘milked’. A worker restrains him in a bent-over position then grabs the turkey’s penis, stroking and masturbating until the tom ejaculates. The milked semen is collected, laced with extenders and antibiotics, and injected via syringe into the female turkey.

The life cycle of a turkey raised for commercial purposes is a fast and furious three months of suffering which ends in slaughter. This industrial-scale cruelty does our society, and the institutions and organisations that condone it, no credit at all.

As consumers and customers we would like to express our concerns with your frequent advertising of a product that is cruelly produced, and request that you change the ‘free give-away’ of the frozen dead body of an animal, to something that does not involve such cruelty and violence. We will not be shopping at Bing Lee in any capacity whilst this is occurring and will also be telling others to boycott Bing Lee nationwide.

We look forward to receiving your earliest response, attention, and action to cease advertising and supporting this inhumane industry.

Sincerely,

WILDLIFE CARERS GROUP WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT IN 2009/2010.

WISHING YOU A VERY SAFE AND HAPPY YEAR FOR 2011.

You can help us make the necessary changes for our native protected Eastern Grey

Kangaroos, by signing this petition, and circulating this for us http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/saveallthe-kangaroos.html.

In this article, interviewed on 15/4/10, http://www.nowuc.com.au/2010/05/27/kangaroo-plan…/comment-page-1/ don fletcher from tams says that kangaroos are not the main problem and in fact ‘native grasses’ are not threatened with extinction, but other animals and plants are, and that “the biggest ‘contributor’ to the loss of the natural treeless grasslands of our region has been agriculture (by far)”.

This statement is admitting to the flawed, dishonest kangaroo management plan, and russell watkinson’s media release, on Friday 18/6/10, that blames the kangaroos for driving legless lizards, earless dragons, etc, and the deteriorating grasslands and woodlands to extinction, by eating all the grasses, when fletcher admits that the native grasses are not threatened by the kangaroos, but by human activity, including toxic sprays.

Please check out this link http://www.canberratimes.com.au/news/local/news/general/roo-best-custodian-for-some-plants/1652005.aspx, that was in the Canberra times on 17/10/09, that completely refutes the allegations against the roos destroying grasslands, that was sent to maxine cooper, that were also ignored.

The report is by Julie Lindner, who has also been studying the grasslands and the roos for the past 20 years, which backs up what I’ve been saying all along.

http://www.canberratimes.com.au/news/local/news/general/roo-best-custodian-for-some-plants/1652005.aspx, with a more recent article in the Chronicle in the ‘letters to the editor’ section, titled ‘culling controversy’ p.23, 14/6/11.

Please click on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUZrKj6ClBg ‘KANGAROO CHILLER BOX INVESTIGATION’/’KANGAROOS ON TRACK TO EXTINCTION’, that contains the cruel bashing to death of roos that are shot, but not directly killed, hung up while still alive, and left suffering, trembling as they hang, tortured to death, and joeys bashed to death, possibly attempting to decapitate the joeys head on the back of the truck with several blows.

Please click on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbn3c8EcNRk&feature=related, so called controlled government butchering, you will note that the kangaroos are still alive when hung up, suffering, AND BEING TORTURED TO DEATH, the male is laughing at the cruelty he has just inflicted on this kangaroo, a joey stomped to death, even the child stomps on it as he walks past following his father, orphaned joeys hopping around, left to starve to death, a joey bashed till its eyes popped out, but is still alive, suffering, a prolonged death, and the male admitting that these are protected species. Native protected animals called pests, the very same native animals that maintain a healthy well balanced eco system. The code of practice that the shooter refers to is inhumane, and unacceptable, as witnessed in this video footage. Kangaroos are not fit for human or dog consumption, heavily contaminated with various diseases/harmful bacterias, e.coli, salmonella, staphylococcus, streptococcus, toxoplasmosis, preserved illegally with sulphur dioxide that causes thiamine deficiency, (a white crystalline solid forming part of the vitamin B complex, C12H17CIN4OS; a vitamin (B1), required by the nervous system, absence of which causes beri-beri and other disorders), causing death, intake of pesticide spraying to control locusts, etc. Keep watching till it stops, keep an eye on the timer, next to the speaker symbol, length 10:59.

There are more links on youtube to show the facts on the extreme cruelty committed to our native protected macropods.

Possum Abattoir – Lenah Game Meats, Tasmania — EngageMedia

These animals are still alive and awake, when going through the abattoir’s chute processing system, dropped on top of one another, through a swinging door, to go through to the next phase, with several possums piled on top of one another, into the same boxes, when delivered to the abattoir, (possums are extremely territorial,) females with joeys, butchered, and bashed to death. Dingoes

Following Wildlife Carers Group Investigation and Report on the Fraser Island Dingoes, on 29/8/11, on 5/9/11, the Liberal National Party (LNP) has committed to ensuring the long term survival of the Fraser Island Dingoes, click this link to read the LNP’s commitments: http://www.lnp.org.au/policies/queenslands-precious-wildlife-the-fraser-island-dingo.

Please click this link to view the follow up on Fraser Island Dingoes Driven to Extinction Report: https://wildlifecarersgroup.wordpress.com/2011/09/06/wildlife-carers-group-investigation-and-report-on-the-fraser-island-dingoes-qld-liberal-national-party-takes-action-to-protect-fraser-island-dingoes/?sn=l

Terminating the rangers from their jobs, who are responsible for the inhumane treatment of dingoes on Fraser Island, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSSaknF6Wnw&feature=youtu.be, who are starving them to death, mismanaging them, mistreating them will prevent driving these spectacular native wildlife species to extinction, and help end acts of animal cruelty. Changing the Qld government legislation and constitution, to humanely conserve this species, and their habitat. Erecting GIVE WAY to DINGOES/WILDLIFE Signs. We can see their marine life up and down the Qld coast, however, the only unique sighting that Fraser Island can boast about, and offer to the tourists, is the pure breed native Dingoes, once the last 90 odd Dingoes that are left on the Island are driven to extinction, through arrogance, mismanagement and mistreatment, Fraser Island will have nothing left to offer to the huge tourist trade it currently holds, which will end Fraser Island tourism. This species maintains a healthy well balanced eco system.
